SUMMARY:Christmas Generosity Project
DESCRIPTION:Dear Hawthorn Parents and Students\, \nEvery year in December\, Hawthorn School collaborates with the Missionaries of Charity here in Toronto. The Order of the Missionaries of Charity cares for the blind\, the elderly\, the dying\, refugees\, and all those in need in the poorest communities of the city. \nWe partner with the Missionaries of Charity at Christmas in providing support for current families in need. This year\, the Missionaries are asking if we can help at least five families in need of a Christmas gift. \nThis Christmas\, we have decided to build community and involvement with our students in creating Christmas Hampers filled with essential pantry food items\, small craft items and gift cards that the families can use to make their Christmas meal and season special. \nWe are looking for your participation in giving\, if possible\, at least two gift cards per student in denominations of $25 for stores like Walmart\, President Choice\, or other easily accessible locations where recipients can find anything they could need (clothes\, shoes\, food\, toys\, electronics\, household items\, etc). \nStarting today and until December 5th gift cards can be ordered through the Hawthorn Gift card program\, by doing so\, your generosity goes farther not only helping families in need\, but also helping Hawthorn. The order form is attached\, and some extra copies are available at the office. \nStudents will receive house points for every gift card sent: \n\n\n15 house points: For each gift card ordered through the Hawthorn Gift Card Program. Deadline to order through the school is Friday\, December 5th. Please fill a form just for this purpose (do not mix with personal orders) and indicate at the top the order is for the generosity project. Forms attached for your convenience.\n\n\n\n\n10 house points: For gift cards bought outside the gift card program until December 12th\n\n\nLed by the Curie House\, our students will assemble gift baskets together on Monday\, December 15th in the afternoon for the Christmas Generosity Project. The Upper School students will then deliver the hampers to the Missionaries of Charity\, who will distribute the gifts to the families by Christmas day. \nThank you so much for your help to share the joy of Christmas with these residents of Toronto. \nIf you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Saishio msaishio@hawthornschool.com \nOn behalf of the Curie House\, thank you for your generosity! \nThe Christmas Generosity Project Team

SUMMARY:Last day of the gift card program!
DESCRIPTION:Dear Parents and Staff\, \n“The Gift Card Program” is back!!! This is an opportunity for us to help our school! \nIn case it’s new to you or you need a refresher\, Hawthorn acquires gift cards for major retailers at a discount price. You as Hawthorn parents buy the gift cards from Hawthorn at their face value\, redeem them at that same value\, and Hawthorn keeps the difference as fundraising revenue. Most of the cards have no expiry dates. See the attached order form for the list of retailers. \nThis is how it works: \n \nThe beauty of this program is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work\, earning money for Hawthorn without spending anything additional\, and providing an alternative that involves no selling of unwanted items. \nGift cards are ideal for Christmas\, birthday and employee gifts. We can also use them for just about any purchase including recurring expenses such as food\, gas\, dining out\, clothing\, entertainment\, furniture\, building supplies\, auto repair\, and much more. \nThis is a simple and effective fundraising program and Hawthorn counts on your participation! The deadline to submit your order(s) is on Friday\, December 5\, 2025. \nPlease fill out the form\, that you can download below\, and return it with your payment at the front office on or before the deadline. Payments may be submitted by cash at the front desk\, cheque made payable to Hawthorn School for Girls\, or e-transfer to payments@hawthornschool.com (password: hawthorn; note: “Gift Cards“). To facilitate the process\, we are sending a printed copy of the order form with your child(ren) today. \nThanks for your support! \nContact us at administration@hawthornschool.com if you have any questions. \n  \n[Download gift card order form here]
