Dear Hawthorn Parents, Alumni and Friends,
This year marks the 32nd Anniversary for Hawthorn School for Girls. While we have been living through some extraordinary times, we truly feel blessed to be a part of the Hawthorn Community—perhaps now more than ever.
Not only did our school proactively respond to the global pandemic that impacted how education is delivered, but it did so in a way that continued to represent, reflect and reinforce the values upon which the school has been built. We can see the most important evidence of this in how our daughters are thriving. We truly know that this is not the case for all schools and that Hawthorn is a very special place.
The investments that Hawthorn had to make during the past and current pandemic year have been greater than ever before in order to ensure the emotional, spiritual and physical well-being of our daughters as well as continued academic excellence. The school faculty, administration team and school head have been dedicated around-the-clock to making the best of a challenging situation and for this, we are extremely grateful. It is for this reason, among others, we are calling on your support to the 2021-2022 Annual Campaign.
We are a relatively new family to Hawthorn and are blessed to be benefiting from the investments and support made by the generous families before us. Our daughter, Francesca, transferred to Hawthorn at the end of Grade 5 and transitioned into her first full year last year in Grade 6 and is now excited to begin Grade 7. It’s been thrilling to see her confidence blossom, while her foundation in virtues strengthens. Step by step her patient teachers guided her into the new curriculum, welcomed her to a safe and exciting classroom and nurtured her growth through mentoring.
With the focus of late being largely on the pandemic, it’s important to remember there are other critical areas of school and academic life that need to grow. With your help, we can achieve this years’ goal of $130,000. In fact, we are thrilled to share with you that a lead donor has made an exceptional gift of $30,000 to this year’s fund! An incredible testament to their belief in the vision of our school since this legacy gift comes from a family in grade 12 whose daughter will graduate this year.
Let’s meet this powerful statement with our own action. Together, we are sure our community can raise the remaining $100,000 – and even more. Your gift is extremely important and reaffirms your belief in Hawthorn’s mission. It is up to us to help our school continue to grow beyond the pandemic. We see Hawthorn School for Girls growing stronger than ever—and our daughters, too. The Annual Donation Campaign will help make the investments needed to see that become a reality.
Thank you in advance for your support and for being such an important part of this community.
Massimo, Marnee and Francesca Bruno
