Hawthorn grandparents are an important part of our community, and every year we are excited to prepare a special event in their honour. On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 22 we had the great pleasure of hosting our annual Grandparents’ Celebration. And we’re so glad we did!
Students and staff joined forces in working together to prepare for the day. We transformed our Atrium into a cozy, welcoming café atmosphere, with fall decorations, fresh flowers, tablecloths, and a serving area. Students greeted their beloved guests at the front doors and led them to their seats at round tables. Our Grades 6 and 7 students served coffee and tea, pumpkin bread, croissants, grapes, strawberries, and cheeses. To the delight of the audience, all of our students, from JK to Grade 12, gave carefully rehearsed performances, from poetry recitation, to singing, to playing the violin. Our festive afternoon concluded with dancing, as children invited their grandparents to join in a reel.
Thank you, grandparents, for all that you do to provide love and support for us at Hawthorn. We’re so happy that you joined us in this celebration. You are a true blessing to us!
