On Friday, December 12th, we all bundled up, hopped on board school buses, and ventured downtown to enjoy a day of live theatre, take in the outdoor festivities of a Christmas market, and share the warmth of friendship during the Advent season. Our Christmas-inspired accessories added to the sense of fun and anticipation of the holidays!
This year, we were treated to the humour, heart, and hijinks of the ogre-sized (!) Shrek The Musical at Young People’s Theatre – we loved it! “Bursting with catchy tunes and laugh-out-loud moments, Shrek The Musical features a kaleidoscopic crew of fairy tale misfits – a wisecracking donkey, a fierce warrior princess, a pint-sized villain, and even a cookie with an attitude. It’s a fun-filled adventure for the whole family, celebrating friendship and the joy of finding your true self. Based on the smash-hit Oscar-winning film, this charmingly cheeky romp in the swamp reminds us that even in a world divided, we’re all in this together.”
After the show, we fuelled up on our packed lunches and then exploredThe Distillery Winter Village, “a one-of-a-kind, outdoor holiday market where visitors can take in the timeless romance of the holidays, celebrate with family and friends, and enjoy specially curated vendor cabins full of seasonal items and gifts, plus delicious, can’t-miss food.”
We are so thankful to continue Hawthorn’s annual tradition of an Advent excursion. Seeing incredible, professional live theatre was so inspiring for us, especially the thespians among us. Meeting talented, artistic, Ontario entrepreneurs let us discover countless ways to be creative. And exploring the frosty outdoors Winter Market with our schoolmates left us with beautiful memories of fun and friendship. Thank you, Hawthorn!
