Every year in December, Hawthorn School collaborates with the Missionaries of Charity here in Toronto. The Order of the Missionaries of Charity cares for the blind, the elderly, the dying, refugees, and all those in need in the poorest communities of the city.
Hawthorn partners with the Missionaries of Charity at Christmas in providing support for current families in need. This year, the Missionaries asked if we could help at least five families in need of a Christmas gift.
We have decided to build community and involvement with our students in creating Christmas Hampers filled with essential pantry food items, small craft items, and gift cards that the families can use to make their Christmas meal and season special.

Sincere thanks to our incredibly supportive Hawthorn families for their spontaneous participation in the Hawthorn Gift Card Program. Your generosity is not only helping families in need, but also helps our school which benefits from each card purchased.
Students received house points for every gift card sent. Led by Curie House, our students assembled gift baskets together on Monday, December 15th in the afternoon for the Christmas Generosity Project. The Upper School students then delivered the hampers to the Missionaries of Charity, who will distribute the gifts to the families by Christmas day.
On behalf of Curie House, thank you so much to each of you who helped to share the joy of Christmas with these residents of Toronto. Your generosity is truly a sign of love and compassion in action at this special time of year.
