LS Field Trip: Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

Dear Gr. 1 to 7 Parents,

Your daughter(s) will be participating in the following school excursion.

Parents are welcome to join us as parent supervisors. If you are able to join us as a supervisor, please contact tzupan@hawthornschool.com to share your availability by Friday, November 1, so that we may confirm your assistance and plan accordingly.

Trip Destination: The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair – Exhibition Place, Toronto

Information: The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair takes place every November in the City of Toronto. Visitors celebrate the best in agriculture, local food, and equestrian competitions from across the country. The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

Departure Date: Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Departure Time: 9:15 a.m.

Return Time: 3:00 p.m.

Purpose of the Field Trip/Excursion: To experience the beauty of culture and nature.

Supervising Teacher(s): Lower School Teachers and Parent Supervisors

Dress Code: Jeans Day attire (as per LS Student/Parent Handbook). Please dress for the indoor/outdoor activities and wear comfortable shoes as we will be walking for most of the day.

Requirement and Preparation: Bring your usual recess snack and lunch (simple to eat, minimal litter). Please keep in mind that lunch may be eaten outdoors, and any litter will be returned home. No valuables (electronics, etc.).

If interested, your daughter(s) may be able to purchase a souvenir from one of the many hand-made crafts from local vendors. Please note that your daughters will be responsible for their own money and purchases as they will not be able to borrow money from others.

Items to bring:

Food
1.    Snacks (bus ride is about 40 minutes, so something to eat for both ways is ideal)
2.    Litter-less Lunch (microwave will not be available)
3.    Water/drink in thermos (if applicable)

Sundry Items
1.    Book to read on bus
2.    Writing implement and mini note/sketchbook to be used outdoors
3.    Tissues
4.    Backpack
5.    Energy, enthusiasm and excitement

** Please do not bring any valuables, electronic devices, or toys.

Special Instructions: Consent has already been given for your daughter to participate in this field trip as per Hawthorn School “Permission for all Field Trips and Excursions – Consent, Acknowledgement & Assumption of Risk Form – 2024-2025.” If you wish to deny permission for your daughter to participate on this field trip or excursion, please advise the School by sending an email to administration@hawthornschool.com  or otherwise in writing.
