Parents’ Speaker Series

November 13, 2025 @ 7:00 pm8:00 pm

Dear Parents and Friends,

We invite you and your friends to join us for our Parent Speaker Series event:

Safeguarding Childhood: A Parent’s Role Against Human Trafficking

Date: Thursday, November 13

Time: 7:00–8:00 p.m.

Location: Hawthorn School for Girls

This important session will demystify human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation in Canada. You will gain insight into what human trafficking actually looks like, who is most at risk, and how families and schools can recognize red flags and respond safely.

What Attendees Will Learn:

  • Real-world examples relevant to youth in the Toronto area
  • Risk factors and warning signs in peers or online interactions
  • Practical applications for home and school that align with values of dignity and care

Presenters:

  • Richard Dunwoody, Founder of Project Recover, a self-funded non-profit supporting survivors of human trafficking. His advocacy was instrumental in the passing of the Debt Bondage Repair Act in the U.S.
  • Two survivors of human trafficking will also share their personal experiences virtually. One is a Canadian survivor who spent over fifteen years in multiple facets of the sex trade and now educates police agencies, service providers, schools, and the hospitality industry on prevention and intervention.

We strongly encourage all parents and adults who deal with young people to attend this powerful and informative session.

Please REGISTER by filling out this form.

Refreshments will be provided and childcare will be available.

Admission is complimentary but donations are always welcome.

We look forward to welcoming you to this important conversation.
