The Hawthorn community celebrated our beautiful school with the Masquerade Gala on April 26th at the Royalton Banquet Hall. Our annual outing of dinner, dancing, and general festivities was a great success.
We hope EVERYONE enjoyed the evening, from the cocktail reception (including an antipasto and prosecco oyster bar :)) to the delicious dinner, with accoutrements such as masquerade masks, a photo booth, door and raffle and best mask prizes, a silent auction, cotton candy, a smoke machine for the dance floor, dancing games, and a spectacular Lower School Phantom Lounge with karaoke, face-painting by skilled artists, and a video gaming bus (!).
We are so proud to know that Hawthorn is part of an international network of similar schools, around the world, that provide an integral education. Your support of our gala supports our school and helps to make our Hawthorn Tree bloom through your generosity. We are thrilled that you could be a part of this fun night, and we extend an enormous THANK YOU to our donors, our lovely volunteers, parents, staff, the talented and confident Grade 10 emcees, and all students who worked hard in bringing this event to life. Your participation, effort, and countless hours behind the scenes did not go unnoticed. We hope to see everyone at next year’s gala – à la prochaine!
We leave you with some parting thoughts of appreciation from some of our Grade 10’s about their Hawthorn experience – we hope they inspire you.
The thing I love most about Hawthorn is the beautiful community and family environment it provides. In no other school can you walk through the halls, always be known by name, have friends on all sides, and feel so wondrously safe and welcome as in Hawthorn.
I have grown deeply in my faith, in my virtues, and in my friendships. Hawthorn pushes me to become a hardworking and righteous person rooted in God and it also provides me with the people that support me to maintain my faith and discipline.
I have grown immensely in self-confidence since I came to Hawthorn. I now have the courage to do things and talk to people that I never would have done before.
I have had the courage to say no to being stressed all the time about school work. Now, the more I work towards being happy I find that I am really understanding everything I am learning.
