On Sunday, June 23, Hawthorn Choir members were honoured to sing at morning Mass at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North York. Bella, Chiara, Maddy, Mary, Mika, Vicky, Dr. Helmers and Miss Kim gathered in the church ahead of time to rehearse together before Adoration. For Mass, they sang:
– Processional (a capella; round): ‘Jubilate Deo’
– Communion (hymn; a capella; round): ‘Jesus, My Lord, My God’ in soprano and alto parts; ‘Ave Maria’
– Recessional (hymn): ‘O God, Beyond All Praising’
Many parishioners approached the choir following Mass to share thanks, compliments, and encouragement, as did Fr. Tamas, who also asked if they could return in September! Upon departing, one of the young singers commented that it was better than she had expected, a good and positive experience. This was a wonderful new venture for our choir, and we thank them for sharing their gift of song!
