Lending a Helping Hand to Our Senior Neighbours

Lending a Helping Hand to Our Senior Neighbours

This Fall, Hawthorn students jumped into a service activity that we kicked off last year. Starting in October, our Grades 8, 9, and 11 R.E.A.L. (Real Excellence and Attitude for Life) classes ventured out on weekly outings to rake leaves for seniors in our school neighbourhood. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to practice kindness, teamwork, and service, and the seniors were honestly delighted and extremely grateful for any assistance we could offer.

On these chilly autumn days, our students bundled up in layers to keep cozy and comfortable for the brisk fresh-air work, with warm coats, boots, gloves, hats, scarves, and track pants. We were all ready to help and happy to make a positive difference alongside classmates!

Thank you to Ms. Pietrobon and Ms. Yu for driving us to our senior neighbours in need each week and for supporting us in this free service. A big shout-out to our new senior friends – you’re awesome!
