In November, Hawthorn US mathematicians took on the considerable challenge of the Canadian Senior and Intermediate Mathematics Contests (CIMC and CSMC). These are two contests designed to give students the opportunity to have fun and develop their mathematical problem-solving ability.
Students in Grade 9 and 10 wrote the CIMC, grappling with problems based on the mathematical curriculum up to and including Grade 10. Students in Grade 11 and 12 wrote the CSMC, tackling questions based on the mathematical curriculum up to and including the final year of secondary school.
The CIMC and the CSMC are tough, no question about it. Congratulations to all of our young number crunchers for stepping up to face the task. We look forward to hearing about our students’ successes, and giving them the recognition they deserve!
