On Wednesday, December 17, the Hawthorn Senior Volleyball Team travelled to Albert College in Belleville for a CISAA match, coming away with a hard-fought 3–2 victory. The game was played at 2:00 p.m.
Hawthorn started strong, winning the first two sets:
- Set 1: HAW 25 – ALB 20
- Set 2: HAW 25 – ALB 23
Albert College responded with determination, taking the next two sets and forcing a deciding fifth:
- Set 3: HAW 8 – ALB 25
- Set 4: HAW 26 – ALB 28
In the fifth and final set, Hawthorn regrouped with confidence and closed out the match:
- Set 5: HAW 15 – ALB 9
At the end of the match, each team presented a sticker to a player on the opposing team to recognize integrity, respect, inclusion, sportsmanship, and education. In Hawthorn’s first game of the season, Aimilia M (Gr. 9) proudly received this sticker from Albert College, highlighting her positive example on and off the court.
It was an outstanding display of teamwork, resilience, and character from our players. Congratulations to the entire team on a hard-earned victory!
With this win, Hawthorn stands with 2 points (awarded with each win) to start the rankings strong in their league.
Thank you to our coaches, Ms. Lim and Ms. Duceppe, for helping our girls kick the season off strong, and to our Athletics Director, Ms. Pazooki, for her continuous dedication in supporting our teams!
GO, HAWTHORN, GO!
