Hawthorn Upper School students participated in the Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat Mathematics Contests on the morning of Thursday, February 26th. These contests are nationally recognized mathematics competitions organized by the University of Waterloo. They are designed to give students the opportunity to enjoy challenging mathematics while strengthening their problem-solving skills and mathematical thinking. Participation also enhances post-secondary applications by demonstrating student initiative and strong analytical ability.
Students wrote the contest corresponding to their grade level:
- Grade 9 – Pascal
- Grade 10 – Cayley
- Grade 11 – Fermat
To help students feel more confident and prepared, our Mathematics faculty organized math contest preparation sessions for all interested students.
Congratulations on stepping up to another challenging and enriching math contest experience, HSG mathematicians! We look forward to receiving your results when they become available later this school year.
