Camping Trip Kick-Off in the Upper School!

A bright new school year stands before us, full of possibilities, limitless invitations to learn, and our wonderful Hawthorn community by our side cheering us on! With summer holidays officially closing over the Labour Day weekend, we excitedly reunited on Tuesday, September 3rd at our First Day of School welcome back to campus. With the whole school in attendance, all spruced up in our #1 Dress uniforms, we set our sights on flourishing together for a new year of growth and activity.

Early the next morning, US students headed off by bus for a three-day overnight camping trip to Olympia Sports Camp in the heart of Muskoka.

Olympia encourages community living which includes cabin living, working together and family-style meals.

Six Hawthorn School for Girls students are looking at the quiet lake and the horizon early in the morning.

Blessed with ideal fall weather for our trip, we enjoyed jumping into to all the outdoor fun and games available, such as high ropes activities, the climbing tower, canoeing, archery, lakeside campfire circles, and watching loons silently glide in to land on a mirror-still bay at dusk.

In an atmosphere of natural beauty, students were encouraged to step outside of their comfort zone and share unforgettable experiences, rekindling friendships and building new ones that will stand them in good stead along the winding path of the school year ahead. Buen camino, Hawthorn!
