Lower School Farming Fun!

Lower School Farming Fun!

To kick off the new school year together, the Lower School spent a fun-filled day reconnecting with each other and with nature at Forsythe Family Farms near the quaint village of Greenbank in Scugog Township, Durham Region.

Friday, September 6th dawned bright and crisp, and we arrived by bus in the countryside to a beautiful day spent picking flowers, visiting the market, feeding adorable barn animals, taking a wagon ride, navigating a corn maze, performing twisted fairy tale skits, jumping into the farm playground, and taking a guided walk through the forest identifying flora and fauna.

As Wild and Free author Ainsley Arment writes, ‘Children come alive by being outdoors. It awakens their minds, centres their hearts, and gives them depth of soul. It’s not an abandonment of academic work but rather a help to it.

Thank you, Forsythe Family Farms, for all the fresh air fun to fuel our new year!
