A Time to Give Thanks: All-School Thanksgiving Celebration

A Time to Give Thanks: All-School Thanksgiving Celebration

On Wednesday, October 16th, Hawthorn students gathered in the Atrium which was specially decorated for our All-School Thanksgiving Celebration. Our Student Council President and Vice-President, Ximena and Ana Maria, warmly welcomed everyone and officially introduced themselves and the Student Council. There were long tables set up for each house – Curie, Frank, Nightingale, and Tubman – and big sisters excitedly greeted their little sisters and sat together for lunch.

After lunch Ximena and Ana Maria led the games. The first one involved a representative from each house coming up to the front, sitting on a chair, having a cookie on their forehead and eating the cookie without using their hands. The challenge was moving the cookie with their face.

Another game was broken telephone. All houses were given the same sentence. One person had to repeat it to the next. The phrase was distorted by little children still chewing on their lunch. It was very funny hearing the final sentence from each house!

Another game was singing a song with a word given by the game hosts, and answering trivia questions.

Finally, in thanks to each student for bringing her best self to school each and every day and helping to make Hawthorn a beautiful place to learn and grow, each student was given a yummy Thanksgiving cookie before heading back to class.

Happy Thanksgiving, Hawthorn! We are so grateful for you!
