Gr. 6-7 Students Volunteer for a Leafy Outing!

On a brisk Fall day during their gym class, Grades 6 and 7 students ventured out to rake leaves at the house of a senior in a nearby neighbourhood of St Bonaventure Parish.

Miss Lim and Miss Yu drove the students in two shifts to the house of Mrs. Forkes who has a large maple tree in her backyard. The girls spent their gym period raking all the leaves and stuffing them into paper bags. Mrs. Forkes was out of the house when the girls were working, but she left chocolates for everyone to thank them for their work!

Mrs. Forkes wrote these words of gratitude when she returned home and saw her freshly cleaned-up yard:

‘They did a great job!… Thanks again to you and your “crew”…. it is most appreciated, as the cold weather triggers arthritis on my shoulders and I have a hard time doing physical work.’

The students said they felt good after helping and understood that all the raking would be hard for one senior citizen. Thank you for your energetic spirit of service, girls! You are appreciated!
