Hawthorn was happy to welcome new and returning seniors to our December 16th Muffin Monday. Some seniors had come for the past 2 months, and a senior from St. Timothy’s Parish joined us for the first time. Students whisked about greeting our guests and serving them coffee, tea, cupcakes, and banana bread. The first performance was the Grades 4 and 5 students playing the violin.
The Upper School Choir led the carolling and asked for song requests from the seniors. Miss Kim played the piano.
Lower School students did folk dancing while Mrs. Szalados played the violin. Later the students invited each of the seniors to dance with them.
Before our special guests left, some students gave each of them a handmade Christmas card. This is what one of the seniors wrote to us the day after:
Hello, I really appreciated the work that Sena put into making the card. I’ve put it beside my granddaughter’s card. She had made me a Christmas card when she was in grade four.
She is in grade twelve this year!
You are teaching the girls so well, manners, appreciation of seniors, music, crafting. An all around education. You are to be commended. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year that will bring further accomplishments for your staff and the students.
