On Friday, February 21, a fairly large group of book-loving students congregated together along with Miss Kim for the Little Ladies Literary Guild. The Guild is a book club of sorts for Grade 4 to 7 students who truly love literature and want to share their experiences with other girls who enjoy getting lost in the pages of a novel.

The focus of this meeting was the novel by renowned author Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Sharing our love for this playful story made every person at the table feel like they’d just read when Charlie found the golden ticket all over again.

We sang songs from the Oompa Loompa’s, shared favourite quotes and scenes from the book, said a thing or two about the Salt’s, Beauregard’s, Gloop’s, and Teevee’s parenting, and all around renewed our love for this childhood classic.

Chocolates and candy canes weren’t the only sweet thing about this lunch meeting; sharing childhood nostalgia and a love of Wonka’s sweets warmed everyone’s hearts like hot fudge and sucked us all into the pages. So if you get the chance, I highly recommend coming to the next meeting of the Little Ladies Literary Guild to share your love and experiences of getting lost in the pages!
