The month of March has seen some ideal weather for maple sugar producers in Ontario and Hawthorn’s Lower School ventured out on a field trip to take full advantage of this special Canadian treat.

Grades 1 to 7 bundled up and boarded a bus bound for the sugar bush at Pefferlaw Creek Farms in Uxbridge on Tuesday, March 25th.

We learned all about maple syrup production, took a hike in nature, emptied a few buckets of sap, and sampled some tasty maple syrup.

Spending the crisp spring day experiencing the beauty of culture and the outdoors with friends was a beautiful way to welcome in the new season, see the sap running, and celebrate being together again after the March Break.

Thank you, Hawthorn, for providing this ‘sweet’ outing for our young scholars! 🙂
