On the afternoon of May 12th, preparations for Muffin Monday began with some US students helping to set up tables, including vases of fresh spring tulips, in the atrium. We welcomed three seniors who joined us for coffee, tea, cake, and a wonderful celebration of student talent.

The Junior School opened the performance by singing Mother’s Day songs and then, students from each grade recited memorized classic poetry, and spontaneously sang songs.

Three students (Brianna, Diana and Athena) played solos on the piano.

Finally, students gathered together to do a folk dance called the Virginia Reel. Afterwards, many of the LS students helped with cleaning up by bringing dishes and platters into the staff kitchen, and washing them.

Thank you, our senior friends, for joining us at Hawthorn School and for sharing in our fun and fellowship. We look forward to honouring elders in our neighbourhood by holding this monthly event once again at our final Muffin Monday of the school year on June 9th at 3:15 pm.

Spread the word! We’d love to welcome you, too, and we hope to see you there!
