Read-Aloud Time with our Big Sisters!

Read-Aloud Time with our Big Sisters!

Junior and Senior Kindergarten students gathered close to the wing-back chair this week to listen to their ‘big sisters’ in Grade 4 who were invited into their small realm to lead read-aloud time. Thank you to our Grade 4 friends who each took a turn for story time from the children’s classic ‘Beatrix Potter Treasury’. Each young reader showed impressive expressivity and fluidity in their narration, bringing to life the exciting adventures of Peter Rabbit, Mr. McGregor, Mr. Tod, and friends. The 10-minute tales were met each day with rapt attention and affection by the kindergarteners, and concluded with much clapping, a chorus of thank-you’s, and the presentation of a special sticker for each reader. When asked about her experience leading read-aloud, Monica said, ‘I like little children! It’s fun to read! They really like picture books and all the adventures!’

Thank you to our wonderful kindergarten teachers, Ms. Hamza and Ms. Murillo, and to our Gr. 4 teacher, Ms. Kim, for your collaboration in bringing this literacy project to life, and for instilling a love of reading in our youngest students!
