On Thursday, June 5, 2025, the Grade 6 and 7 students performed Scenes 7 and 8 from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.

This exciting event was the result of over a month of hard work. Each Wednesday, students stayed in during lunch and recess to rehearse.

They hoped to attend the Shaw Festival, one of Canada’s largest theatre festivals, to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. However, arranging transportation was challenging. Even better, they enjoyed a special field trip with the entire Lower School on Play Day before the Closing Ceremony. One student brought many costumes from home and handmade props, enhancing the performance’s appeal. The class chose to present to the kindergarten students, thinking it would be delightful.

On the day of the performance, everyone was excited and a bit nervous. They dressed in their costumes and delivered a wonderful show.

The kindergarteners laughed at the right moments and enjoyed the play, proving to be a supportive audience. Afterward, they shared treats and gave the performers certificates they had created themselves. This experience was incredibly fun and rewarding. We hope that future Grade 6 and 7 classes will continue this delightful tradition.
