We have approached the moment in the year when a valedictorian must be chosen from the graduating students in both the Lower School and Upper School. To be chosen as Class Valedictorian is a most prestigious honour, decided upon by votes from peers, faculty, and staff. The student who is chosen should perform well academically and have a pleasant and good nature. She should have the respect of her peers and teachers through her effort in exhibiting what can best be described as the spirit of Hawthorn. During her many years at our school, she will have demonstrated good leadership qualities and will have exercised right judgment, a spirit of service, generosity, sincerity, and friendship.
The student chosen to be Class Valedictorian willingly accepts the honour of speaking at the Closing Ceremony on behalf of her class. Addressing parents, teachers, students, and guests, she will say farewell to this stage of their student lives and greet new challenges which lie ahead. The Grade 7 speech is reviewed by the class teacher, and the Grade 12 speech is reviewed by the Director of Academics.
With this extensive criteria in mind, voting has now been completed, ballots have been counted and verified, and the final result is ready to be announced (drum-roll, please!):
Heartfelt congratulations to our 2025 Class Valedictorians:
Cora (Grade 7), and Ximena (Grade 12).

To both of you, Cora and Ximena, our heartfelt thanks for all that you have done to deserve this outstanding honour, and for accepting to represent us at our Closing and Graduation Ceremony, June 13th (Lower School) and June 20th (Upper School). We are so looking forward to that happy day!!
