Hawthorn’s Spanish Club is reviving the ancient Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead, celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. The students have created a project including making an altar to honour the lives of relatives who have passed away. Club members brought in pictures of deceased relative and some of their favourite things that represent them.
Día de los Muertos is a vibrant and culturally significant celebration observed primarily in Mexico and among Mexican communities worldwide. It is a joyful time that helps people remember the deceased and celebrate their memory. With this project, the Spanish Club has aimed to organize a community event that honors this rich tradition, fostering cultural awareness and appreciation while creating a space for remembrance and celebration of loved ones who have passed.
Gracias, club members, for leading this wonderful initiative in remembrance of our dearly departed.
