Hawthorn Writers Chosen for National Publication!

Hawthorn Writers Chosen for National Publication!

Congratulations to our Grades 6 and 7 English students who participated in the 19th annual Polar Expressions Poetry and Short Story Contest. Our budding writers were competing with thousands of entries from across Canada for the chance to be published in the 2025 edition of the Polar Expressions student anthology. We are so proud of all of our participants, and we extend particular kudos to Wanyi, Anastasia, Cora, Valentina, Katrina, and Paola whose poem or story was chosen for the new book which will be released in June and sent as a gift for our school library. Each of our young writers will receive a bookmark gift, and our six first-round winners will proceed to the final round for a chance to win one of three prizes for their grade.

Thank you to our Gr.6-7 English teacher, Ms. Kim, for encouraging her students to continue writing and for providing this outlet to showcase their wonderful creativity and talent with peers from across the nation. We hope that this opportunity inspires a lifelong love of poetry and prose!
