On February 17th, our Grade 8 and 9 REAL students (Real Excellence and Attitude for Life) wrapped chocolates for the social justice ministry of Out of the Cold (OOTC) operated by St. Basil’s Catholic Church at the University of St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto. The artisanal Swiss chocolates were generously donated by Kieona and her team at Läderach (York Mills) and we brought them to the OOTC programme to sweeten a meal and sense of community. Being in the season of Lent, we did not have any chocolate ourselves, a true test in resisting temptation! Hilda from St. Basil’s was wonderfully surprised to receive the chocolates, and told us that the patrons had really appreciated the treats last year.
Thank you, Läderach, for your wonderful kindness, and thank you, St. Basil’s for all that you continue to do to empower us to serve and accompany our neighbours in need.
